ALBUM : Sand Museum Tottori
This exhibition changes its theme yearly. Now it was time for a tribute to the nature and history of Africa.
All sculptures are only made of the local sand and water ! There were 10 different exhibits, even mount Kilimanjaro (in nature it is 5,895 meters high) was present.
11 sand sculptors from 8 countries used about 1.400 tons of sand to create the works.
The sand is first stuffed into large boxes and then carefully scratched off, sprinkling water on the sand to keep it stable.
The display is open until January 2011.
If you are close, go visiting. Is is well worth walking up the hill past these monsters.
